FORCE invites you to participate in one or more volunteer projects. We offer a variety of fun, educational, and rewarding volunteer experiences. Try an outdoor activity, such as trash cleanup or invasive plant removal. If you prefer to work inside, we have education, outreach, and advocacy opportunities, as well as office work.
Volunteering is a wonderful way to meet people who love Rock Creek and want to do their part to protect it. There are actvities for kids to get outside and families to experience nature and how good it feels to work together on something that matters.

Stream Teams
Stream Teams adopt a section of Rock Creek or one of its 30 tributaries. In this neighborhood-based program, volunteer team members help keep an eye on the creek and carry out projects near where they live or work. Click here for more information.
Cleanup Projects
FORCE is an active participant in the Alice Ferguson Annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup. This year, FORCE organized and promoted 56 cleanup teams, which removed over 2,400 bags of trash, plus loose items (including 137 tires!), totalling nearly 8 tons, from the parkland along Rock Creek. A number of smaller, more localized cleanups occur throughout the year. Please check our calendar or contact Kevin Flynn,

Internships
If you are interested in a volunteer internship with FORCE, please let us know! Currently FORCE is seeking a Communications intern. Click here for more information.
Public Outreach
Do you enjoy meeting new people? Are you outgoing and interested in teaching others about the Rock Creek watershed and FORCE? If so, we need your help with our public outreach efforts!
FORCE is frequently invited to host a booth at local fairs, park festivals, and greening events. We are looking for volunteers to spread the word at these valuable public outreach opportunities.
Please let us know if you would like to be the voice of the FORCE at a local event. Outreach volunteers receive a training packet with information about the Rock Creek watershed and FORCE’s efforts to improve our waterways. We will provide you with all necessary visual displays and brochures, and you will be teamed with an experienced volunteer.
Help spread the word! Please contact Barbara Elkus at
